It has been officially declared that the Labour Party will form the new UK government, with Keir Starmer as Prime Minister. In light of this, we are sharing our latest guide to help outline what the result is likely to mean for global mobility: what’s coming, what you need to do and what to communicate to your colleagues and leadership.

In this guide, we help explain the tax and immigration policies and promises made in each of the main parties’ manifestos.

We have provided commentary on the proposals outlined by the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats. We are awaiting the publication of the Scottish Nationalist Party’s manifesto and will update this document once it is published.

The guide focuses on issues related to the UK’s tax and immigration regimes and how this might impact employers and employees. We do not cover asylum or refugee matters.

Whilst it is too early to be certain about the exact promises that competing political parties will make, or the outcome of the election itself, it is possible to predict what these might mean for employers and employees at a practical level.

We work through all of that in this briefing, helping you understand what could be coming for the UK’s tax and immigration regimes.
